TrevsIcons
==========
released 9 Feb 97
by Trevor Boehm
WHAT IS THIS AND WHY AM I RELEASING IT:
=======================================
A few weeks ago I came to the conclusion that my workbench looked like crap.
I had downloaded a whole shwackload of icons in MagicWB style, and for
awhile I was satisfied with the icons and the palette. The palette fell
somewhere between vomit and paste. But NewIcons took forever to render on
my 68000 Amiga and looked like crap in anything less than 16 colours. There
were no other sizeable icon sets around, though, so I thought I was stuck.
Until I saw ave Matthews' "This Old Workbench" in Amaing Computing (Jun 96).
That article had the usual 256-colour pictures of NewIcons running on
hardware I can't afford, and a picture of MagicWB so dull that my workbench
looked exciting. But it also had a screenshot of a package called IconoGrafx
3.0, by Tom Ekstrom. I took one look at this screenshot, logged onto the
net, and downloaded the package from Aminet.
I think the IconoGrafx 3.0 icons look great! The palette is colourful
and the icons look professional. Only a few were left out. And
a few were incorrectly sized. And the dock icons are huge!
So using the constructionkit included in the archive, I started adding my own
icons. I am not an artist, but it was easy to assemble parts of icons from
the kit! My icons came out looking decent, so I decided to share.
This archive is the first in what I hope will be a series of icon archives
in IconoGrafx format.
DISCLAIMER/DISTRIBUTION:
========================
You use these icons at your own risk. I take no responsibility for damages
to hardware, software, or anything else. =)
You may distribute, use, and modify these icons as you see fit. I would
appreciate it if you kept this file with the icons, as it has some important
info.
WHAT IS HERE:
=============
In the drawer Icons - the icons
In the drawer Brushes - some IFF brushes to use when creating your own
icons
The file IGfx_Palette - the palette for the icons
The file TrevsIcons.Readme - I wonder...
NOTES: <=== READ THIS
======
1. These icons do not have the NewIcons information. I do not use NewIcons.
If you need the NewIcons images, feel free to add them yourself.
2. The Dock icons are a totally different size. They are the normal icon
size with a 1 pixel grey border and then a 1 pixel bevel. This makes it
easy to convert normal icons to docks, and they don't look so huge.
3. All of the icons in this archive (except for one drawer) conform to the
size guidelines. I have reworked many of the original icons to fit this
guideline.
4. I have standardied the colour of disk label on all floppy disks to red
for Amiga, and blue for CrossDos.
5. If you find that these icons display slowly, use a program like OptIcon
to cut the number of bitplanes down. I run my icons on an 8 colour WB with
3 bitplanes and they are much quicker.
PLEASE CONSIDER UPLOADING ANY ICONOGRAFX FORMAT ICONS YOU HAVE MADE!!
